Today on the show we have Hamilton Souther. Hamilton is the founder of the Blue Morpho Organization and Retreat Center. He helps facilitate and certify those who want to go through psychedelic experiences, particularly with Ayahuasca. Today Hamilton is coming to us from his retreat center in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest in Peru.
We are going to have an amazing conversation that encompasses a lot of the business of psychedelics, the impact that it has had on places like Peru and South America, the future of psychedelic plant medicine work, and how it is tied in with the convergence of AI and people waking up and increasing their emotional intelligence. We cover a ton of ground in this conversation and I wish I could have gone for an extra hour.
We discuss:
- [02:20] Hamilton shares his defining moment.
- [04:09] He had a very strong calling that something was awaiting him in South America.
- [08:21] Blue Morpho is a dynamic organization that is an academy, training facility, and retreat center.
- [12:36] When you think of a culture as dynamic as the one you see inside Peru you have to understand that there are various layers to it. The Indigenous communities have their own practice and their own culture and language and they are willing to share those to a certain extent.
- [14:51] With Ayahuasca there are two paths. There is the path of healing and the path of learning and knowledge.
- [18:26] The plant medicine space is evolving rapidly. There is a tremendous growing interest, and because of that there is a willingness and desire to learn.
- [20:55] There is a lot of misinformation in this space.
- [25:03] This is a process and the process starts the minute you decide this is the direction you want to head.
- [26:27] The plant medicine experience is an opportunity to make new choices and decisions. Based on the changes that happen in the ceremony you get a window of opportunity to make new choices and decisions.
- [29:55] The beauty of the plant medicine experiences and then the changes in peoples’ lives can bring awareness to the Amazon itself and hopefully we can share a much greater awareness about what an important ecosystem this is to the rest of the world.
- [32:20] It is a tremendous opportunity and a needed opportunity to protect other aspects of the forest and culture.
- [35:01] Artificial intelligence will touch everything that everybody does even if they don’t know it.
- [38:45] The expansion of consciousness and the things that are truly unique to being human that can’t be turned into a machine become more and more valuable and important.
- [40:32] If this is of interest to people this is available in the world today. We can have these experiences and learn and grow and change and improve our lives together.
