Today on the show I have Tyler Wagner. Tyler is the founder of Authors Unite, an incredible publishing company that allows business owners to elevate their message through the power of authorship.
Today we are going to talk about the fine and powerful distinction between what makes a great writer and what makes a truly great author and what’s possible with somebody who can truly embody authorship.
We discuss:
- [01:49] Tyler shares his defining moment when he dropped out of college.
- [04:47] Authorship is giving all of your knowledge away and just trying to help as many people as possible with your book.
- [05:00] A book is one of the best ROI’s you can ever find. A book can change the course of your entire life.
- [07:50] You should write your book backward. The title actually comes last. Write the sloppy rough draft, get everything out of your mind, and then everything else will come to you as you are doing the difficult work.
- [10:19] Editing your own book is never advisable. For a majority of people, you need that outside perspective.
- [13:52] There are three types of editing - developmental, copy, and proofread.
- [19:27] At the end of preparing a speech for the stage or writing a book you all have so much clarity.
- [21:01] You don’t figure it all out in your mind. You figure it out once everything is out of your mind and onto a paper or board. Then you can visually see it and organize it all.
- [23:01] Many authors will offer something super valuable at the beginning of their book, like a guide or mini course that goes along with the book to maximize the reader’s experience and build their email list to also grow their business.
- [27:28] Most people want to be an author.
- [29:37] The goal of all book marketing is to make the content the best it can be and then get the books in as many hands as possible.
- [30:56] If you have been wanting to write a book, it is hard to do it while juggling a career, a family, and everything. An accountability partner will get you through the finish line.
