I have something a little bit different for you today. A few weeks back I was featured on the She’s Busy AF Podcast hosted by Lauren Loreto and it was an incredible experience. First of all, it was a huge honor to be the first male guest on a podcast for women business leaders by women business leaders.
It was an honor to be able to help with some of the key points that all entrepreneurs face in communicating their value and attracting their clients. This was an action packed episode so I wanted to share this interview with my listeners so you can get a little bit of a taste of what it is like when I am being interviewed.
We discuss:
- [03:22] Storytelling is the root of everything.
- [06:13] There are different kinds of stories and they serve different purposes.
- [07:02] Storytelling is the most ancient technology. It is the foundation of language and communication.
- [09:34] When we wing our speech it is more likely that we are going to get lost in tangents, probably go long, and not convert as well.
- [11:41] Before we write a story we need to start with an action-oriented goal.
- [15:53] With parallel language, we want to say as many of the same words in the beginning story as we do in the end. The more parallel language we can place between the story and the turn around the more truth it sounds like.
- [18:51] When we are teaching we want to understand the goals, the problems, and the landscape and teach to inspire action.
- [19:24] One of the biggest differences and shifts you can make is moving from a passive voice to an active voice.
- [23:53] A lot of times when you are confronted with creating your story there are a lot of internal visibility blocks that come up.
- [27:09] Changing your story and clarifying your story as a leader changes who you are, and how you show up in this world and creates a bigger context for the things that you want to do.
- [30:46] Being able to have a vision that lines up your team that you can communicate with your team is so essential.
- [33:43] When we are trying to write our origin story there are some questions we should ask ourselves.
- [38:05] Kyle shares his story.
- [43:21] Your voice is so important. There is a need for feminine leadership, feminine creativity, and feminine strength that is rooted in your own nature and who you are. Your story is worth sharing. We need voices in this world right now.
