The Life Cycle of a Great Story

Today we are going to be talking about a really important aspect of great stories that many people don’t consider or think about when they first start telling stories or even after a very long time speaking and sharing their story.
Stories have a life cycle. They are like living creatures and have a certain life span. The same story at different points in your life and your journey may be too tender to share, a north star and inspiration for your business or it may be something that bores you. It happens to all creators and it happens to all the great stories they tell. A wise visionary with a powerful message can recognize these stages of their stories and use this to a great advantage. We are going to break down the three stages of a story’s life.
We discuss:
- [00:56] Stories have a life cycle. They are like living creatures and have a certain life span.
- [01:54] Stage one is too soon. Not all great stories start here but many do. This is a time when it is too soon to tell the story.
- [04:25] These stories can switch from too soon to the sweet spot very quickly in some cases if you do the work.
- [09:39] Stage two of the life cycle is the sweet spot. This is the time when you have integrated the story enough into your own life to be comfortable sharing it and expressing the emotions of the story without the risk of the emotions taking you over.
- [10:40] There is a certain magic to being able to tell a story that you were once ashamed of or was once a painful moment in your life and turn it into a tool that you can proudly use to make an impact and create abundance for yourself.
- [11:39] Even though this golden age can’t last forever for one story. You will always have stories in your life that are in this sweet spot if you know how and where to look for them.
- [12:11] Stage three of the life cycle is when you have outgrown a story. There comes a point when the story you have been telling for so long starts to really lose its pull and residence with you.
- [14:54] Regardless of what is on the horizon, if you are experiencing stories that you have outgrown then it is time to create new stories, explore your vision and inspiration, and find out what lights you up again and use that to chart a new path.
