Today we are going to be talking about a very interesting and a little bit contradictory topic. Can Authenticity Be Manipulative? If there is one story that I hear a lot of from people that I work with or people that are considering working with me, it’s that the story of why they can’t share a certain story.
We are going to talk about how to turn that around and make sure that we are using our authenticity in ways that are aligned with us and are not manipulative. I am sharing three steps today to make sure your authenticity is powerful and is aligned with the best version of yourself.
We discuss:
- [00:48] Can Authenticity Be Manipulative?
- [02:21] People have stories about why they can’t share their stories.
- [03:39] Step one is healing your story before you share it. The first rule in being vulnerable in a healing and powerful way is to make sure you have done your own work on the stories that you are sharing.
- [04:47] When we start sharing stories that we are not fully okay with it becomes a liability and our emotions can run away with us in ways we are not expecting.
- [06:48] Even the most successful and prolific people appreciate and benefit from going through the process of working through the stories that are going through your head or you are telling yourself.
- [09:42] We are not going to be able to share ourselves from the true power if we can’t heal these false stories and get them aligned with who we are and who we want to become.
- [11:24] Step two is to know the purpose of the story you are telling. If you don’t know where you are going with your story, any story is going to sound like a good one.
- [13:12] Static is any thought or any direction that your audience is going that is not serving your ultimate goal of what you are teaching.
- [16:24] Once you have a clear focus for your story you know exactly what to include and what to leave out.
- [19:28] Step three is to connect to a higher vision for your business. When we start telling stories to grow our business, these roadblocks are going to inevitably arise.
- [20:20] When we start focusing on ourselves and our own limitations and flaws we feel the gap between where we are and where we want to be.
- [22:24] When you have a vision that shifts something away from you and onto something bigger, you are enrolling yourself and those you are working with a vision of a better world.
- [25:37] Using your anger as a guiding post in this can be very powerful.
- [27:24] Having this vision for a better life for you when examined and framed properly can be one of these powerful stories that energize you, attracting your clients, and working for your as a compass to really guide you to the life that you want to live.
- [28:00] Bonus point four is if you want to feel authentic or powerful when you are sharing your stories you want to practice your stories. Make time to practice your stories.
- [31:16] When you have your story really well-practiced, you are able to use those tangents, respond, and flow with the situation with confidence because you always know you are going to get yourself back on track. Pros practice.
- [31:57] Your story is not just for you. It is about your customers and it’s for this better world that you are setting out to create.
