On today’s episode, I am talking with Angelo Sisco. Angelo is the founder of Alpha Hippie, a podcast, lifestyle brand, and coaching program that is helping men in their 30’s really connect with a deep purpose and essential strengths within themselves. We are going to talk about his transition out from working in an intense and competitive Crossfit industry to now working in a brand that emphasizes and makes a ton of room for his creativity, play, and fun. It is a business that lights him up and the work he does and how he does his work. Today you are going to get to hear what it sounds like to have a deep level of experience and understanding of who your customer is, how to serve them, and how that shows up as a strategy. His goal is to make sure that all of his clients are home run clients.
On October 15th, 2002, Angelo Sisco was involved in a hit and run motorcycle accident that changed his life forever. In an instant, he went from being a 20-year-old entrepreneur to someone fighting to save his leg and his way of life. After 8 surgeries, two months in a hospital bed, 5 months of daily rehab, and the encouraging news from his doctors that any kind of athletics is permanently out of the question, Angelo fell into a deep depression. In 2009 he discovered CrossFit and everything changed once again. He had a new focus. He had a new purpose. He lost 100 pounds. In 2010 Angelo opened O’Hare CrossFit and then CrossFit Harwood Heights, his second gym, in 2015. Angelo has consulted over 400 affiliates worldwide, co-founded Lifestyle Nutrition, is an international speaker on how to succeed as an affiliate owner while coaching 2 CrossFit games athletes in the 2018 season.
We discuss:
- [02:31] Angelo shares about his defining moment when he took a big leap and really invested in himself.
- [04:47] He shares about his self-actualization journey and self-development work.
- [06:40] He came to a crossroads and realized that he was the limiter of everything around him and everything around him was a projection of him and his limitations.
- [08:03] He realized that it was time for him to take a shot on himself. He could make more money, but he couldn’t make himself happier with what he was doing at that time.
- [11:15] His mastermind group was the kickoff point for his adult life. He is the man he is today because he was willing to invest in himself then.
- [11:57] The company you keep allows you to be where you really want to be and are meant to be.
- [14:38] Sisco started Alpha Hippie as a representation of his self-growth that kicked off from that initial investment.
- [15:40] You have inspirations that are guided by your passions, the ability to put in time and effort, and then allow it to bloom.
- [17:00] He had to let go of other projects to focus on his true passion and purpose with Alpha Hippie. They have a core vision and focus.
- [17:49] As a 21st-century male, we are looking for the trifecta. We are looking to live a great lifestyle, make enough income to sustain that beautiful lifestyle, and we also want to contribute to society.
- [19:06] Inspiration is our driving force. Our brain makes the plans and our guts execute.
- [23:01] Creativity is curiosity and play combined. We are all here to create in one shape or form. Art is our expression of what we love.
- [27:01] Often we get lost in all the noise and we can’t focus and stay in that same spot.

- [32:13] If things stretch us just the right amount it gets our attention and becomes the priority in our lives and we really want to get the return on our investment.
- [34:01] Everyone has an individual story. When on a call with potential clients he always tries to make a genuine connection through empathy and feeling where they are on their journey.
- [36:44] He wants to hit home runs with every single client because that is a true representation of him and the work he does.
- [39:13] Angelo wants a five-star review from all of his clients and that starts with him trusting that he is the person and has the ability to get to the place they want to go.
- [40:54] Passion that is misdirected or has no direction is a waste of energy. When you are able to combine your passion with skill, refinement, and excitement, it is a win for everyone.
- [44:57] Getting clear is challenging, but it calls people to a higher level.
- [47:30] Schedule a call with Angelo to get a diagnostic of where you are as a man and where you want to go.
- [47:51] We are on parallel journeys to be the heroes of our lives. Making sure we have the right mentor that believes in us is really important. The leader and mentee need to have trust and the ability to know that they are all going in the same direction and wanting the same things.
